I've noticed that when you place a SL the market a lot of times reverses and hits it and goes back the way you wanted so pretty much I don't trade without having my eyes on the chart so i don't have to put an SL

Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. How are other people in the same market raking in over $200k gains with months, I'm really just confused at this point.

Stop losses are the worst thing you can do.Just have a very well funded account and trade no more than 1 lot per 10k.You should be able to pick up 1000 pips month if you have the knack.Use leverage to your advantage.I just use simple support and resistance and hedge on the same pair if the trade goes against me to breakeven or small profit.

Stop losses provide liquidity for the big players because they have to average in and out due to their size. Otherwise, they would get unfavorable prices and move the market too much. They know what max pain is for the average player. Market goes up to entice traders, they pile in, and place stops. Big players bring it down to shake out the weak hands. Stops get hit, essentially hijacking peoples positions. Then it rallys, and the average trader piles back in to get what was taken from them back. Only for there to another pullback, weak hands get flushed again, and the process repeats over and over. That's why new traders buy the top and sell the bottom. It's all by design.

I'd mostly agree, but stop orders are also used by institutional investors and market makers to screw retail investors. When you place a stop order, everyone can see it. They just sell off, trigger the large stop order area, then make the big move happen after retail gets knocked out of the move. Anyone who uses stop orders knows this happens all the time.

Pick one instrument and get married to it. Get to know it inside and out before moving on to another.
